Cali and I shared a love of owls (mermaids, alpacas and unicorns, too) so when I designed my tattoo I chose the symbolism of a mama and baby owl with these powerful words to remind me that I need to continue living my best life “for” her. She had type 1 diabetes and 3 separate heart conditions, we spent a lot of time in and out of hospitals and she had teams of doctors at both Sick Kids and McMaster Childrens Hospital. The pink hearts on the owls chest are symbolic reminders of how much I cared about her. She loved to sing and dance. She loved the beach. 12 years certainly was not enough ... my heart beats for her and misses her dearly.
